Creative planning isn’t just about organizing your schedule.

It’s about creating a peaceful routine you actually look forward to.

And the best part?

You don’t need expensive supplies or complicated tools to get started.

With printable planner inserts, printable stickers, printable tags, printable journaling pages, and a few cozy cottagecore touches, you can create beautiful planner spreads and paper craft projects right from home.

In this guide, I’m sharing:

and cozy ways to combine planning and creativity together.

Whether you love planners, junk journals, scrapbooking, paper crafts, journaling, or printable ephemera, this guide will help you create a softer, more creative planning routine.
Cozy Printable Planner Pages and Freebies

One of my favorite things about printable planner pages is how easy they are to personalize.

You can print only the layouts you actually use, mix different designs together, resize pages to fit your planner, and decorate everything exactly the way you like it. There’s something really satisfying about building a planner that feels unique to you instead of trying to force yourself into a system that doesn’t fit your personality.

The printable planner inserts in my Cottagecore Creative Planning Collection were designed with that cozy, creative feeling in mind.

Soft floral layouts, gentle seasonal themes, decorative details, and pages that work beautifully whether you’re using them for planning, journaling, memory keeping, or creative routines.

If you’d like to try a few pages first, I’ve created several free printable planner freebies throughout this collection.

Free Printable 6 Page Cottagecore Planner Set

This is probably one of the best starting points if you’re brand new to printable planner inserts.

The set includes:

daily planner page
weekly layout
monthly page
printable habit tracker
and an important reminders page

all in a soft cozy cottagecore style.

I especially love using printable habit tracker pages in creative planners because they make routines feel a little more encouraging and less overwhelming. Somehow checking things off on a pretty page just feels better.

What is Creative Planning?

Creative planning is one of those things that can look completely different from person to person… and I think that’s what makes it so special.

Some people use printable planner inserts mostly for organizing appointments and routines. Others turn their planners into little creative journals filled with layered embellishments, decorative paper scraps, printable stickers, and handwritten memories.

Most of us probably fall somewhere in the middle.

For me, creative planning is less about strict productivity and more about creating intentional routines that feel calming and inspiring. It’s about slowing down for a little while in the middle of busy days and making space for creativity again.

Sometimes that means decorating a weekly layout with printable stickers and floral tags. Other times it means printing out journaling pages, tucking affirmation cards into planner pockets, or layering printable embellishments into dashboards and dividers.

And if you already enjoy junk journaling, scrapbooking, or paper crafts, creative planning usually feels like a very natural extension of those hobbies.

You don’t have to choose between being “a planner person” or “a crafter.”

You can absolutely be both.
Free Printable Goal Tracker and Journaling Pages

This smaller 2 page planner set includes a lined journaling page and a large printable habit tracker designed for bigger goals and intentional routines.

This one feels especially cozy for:

morning journaling
gentle goal setting
seasonal routines
reflection pages
and creative self care planning

I originally designed these pages for planner users, but they also work beautifully tucked into junk journals and creative binders.
Free Printable Secret Garden Planner Inserts

This printable planner freebie has such a soft peaceful feel to it and reminds me of quiet mornings, hidden garden paths, and those first warm days when everything starts blooming again.

The set includes:

a monthly calendar page
and a coordinating 2 page weekly layout

with a gentle secret garden inspired cottagecore theme filled with soft greenery, florals, and delicate decorative details.

Like most of my printable planner inserts — and all of the planner pages in my Cottagecore Creative Planning Collection — these pages are designed in A4 size and can easily be resized to fit many popular planner sizes including:

US Letter
A5
Classic planner sizes
and other common printable planner formats.

They’re especially pretty layered with printable stickers, decorative tags, journaling cards, and other printable ephemera if you enjoy a more creative decorative planning style.

If you enjoy the soft peaceful aesthetic of this free printable planner set, there’s also a full coordinating Secret Garden planner kit in my shop that includes an entire collection of matching planner pages designed to work beautifully together throughout the month. You can find the full month long planner set here, for sign up for the 3-page freebie below.
Free Printable Spring Garden Planner Pages with Cats

This sweet little printable planner set includes:

a daily layout
a monthly planner page with room for notes
and a lined journaling page

all designed with soft early spring garden details and subtle cottagecore cat illustrations woven throughout the pages.

I wanted this set to feel peaceful and cozy without feeling overly themed, so the little cats appear here and there among florals, garden elements, and soft seasonal details in a way that still feels elegant and calming to use year round.

These pages are especially lovely for:

creative planning
gentle routines
journaling
memory keeping
and cozy seasonal planner spreads.

And if you enjoy the style of this freebie, the full coordinating Spring Garden planner kit includes an entire month of matching printable planner pages with even more soft spring florals, cottagecore garden details, and sweet cat illustrations woven throughout the collection.
Creative Ways to Decorate Planner Pages

This is where creative planning becomes really fun.

Once you start layering decorative details into your planner, it slowly becomes less about “managing tasks” and more about creating a space that feels comforting and inspiring to spend time with.

And you really don’t need complicated supplies to do it.

Some of my favorite things to add into planner spreads are:

printable stickers
layered embellishments
printable affirmation cards
decorative journaling cards
printable tags
pockets
paper scraps
floral ephemera
and little tucked away notes.

Sometimes I’ll print embellishments onto cardstock and use foam adhesive to create dimension. Other times I print directly onto sticker paper and keep things flatter and simpler.

There’s really no wrong way to do it.

If you already enjoy paper crafting, this kind of decorative planning can become incredibly relaxing.

And if you’ve never tried paper crafting before, printable embellishments and stickers are some of the easiest ways to start experimenting creatively.
Free Printable Stickers Tags and Ephemera

One of the things I love most about printable paper crafts is how versatile they are.

The exact same printable design can become:

planner stickers
journal embellishments
scrapbook layers
junk journal ephemera
dashboard decorations
gift tags
or even little pieces of happy mail.

That flexibility is a huge part of why I love working with printable designs so much.
Free Printable Cottagecore Stickers

These printable stickers coordinate beautifully with the planner pages in this collection, but I use them for all sorts of projects outside of planning too.

You can print them:

on matte sticker paper for planner stickers
onto cardstock for layered embellishments
or as printable ephemera for junk journals and scrapbooking.

And if you use a cutting machine, the PNG-friendly format makes them really easy to use for print then cut projects too.
Free Printable Interactive Tags

These printable interactive tags are such a fun little addition to planners, journals, scrapbook pages, and layered paper craft projects.

The free set includes:

folded tag
accordion fold out tag
and tuck tag with matching pocket

which makes them perfect for adding hidden journaling spots, decorative layers, little notes, memory keeping details, or interactive elements throughout your planner pages and creative projects.

I especially love using printable tags like these inside planner dashboards, junk journals, and seasonal memory keeping spreads because they instantly make pages feel more layered, personal, and creative.

And once you start using interactive tags, they become a little addictive to make and decorate. ;)

If you enjoy these designs, be sure to explore my full Embellishments & Ephemera section in the shop too. I have lots of additional printable folded tags, layered embellishments, tuck spots, pockets, and coordinating ephemera designs that work beautifully with planners, junk journals, scrapbooking, and paper craft projects.
Free Printable Cottagecore Seamless Papers

These printable 12"x12" seamless paper designs work beautifully for so many different projects.

You can use them for:

planner dividers
journaling pages
scrapbook backgrounds
junk journals
printable pockets
sublimation projects
printable envelopes
and layered paper crafts.

Because the designs are seamless, they also work really well for digital projects and larger print layouts.
Free Printable Cottagecore PNG Clip Art

This little clip art set might be one of the most versatile freebies in the collection.

The PNG files can be used for:

printable stickers
planner decoration
digital scrapbooking
sublimation
printable journaling cards
dashboards
and layered embellishments.

I love mixing printable clip art with journaling pages because it instantly makes planners feel softer and more artistic.
Free Printable Affirmation Cards for Journals and Planners

Printable affirmation cards are one of those tiny little details that can completely change the feeling of a planner spread.

Sometimes I tuck them into planner pockets. Sometimes I clip them onto dashboards. Sometimes I just leave one sitting near my workspace as a gentle little reminder during the week.

They’re simple… but they add such a warm encouraging touch to creative planners and journals.

These printable affirmation cards were designed to coordinate with the rest of the Cottagecore Creative Planning Collection, so they layer beautifully with the printable papers, stickers, and planner inserts.
How to Print Planner Inserts at Home

If you’ve never used printable planner inserts before, resizing pages can sound a little intimidating at first… but it’s actually much easier than most people think.

The planner pages in this collection are formatted for A4 paper size, but they shrink down beautifully into A5 planner inserts, US Letter size, Classic, and soo many more, simply using standard printer settings.

Once you add your favorite planner sizes into your printer settings, it becomes incredibly easy to print planner pages to fit almost any planner you’re using.

I have a full tutorial showing:

how to resize printable planner pages
how to add planner sizes into your printer settings
and how to print A5 planner inserts at home

so definitely check that out if you’re new to printable planners.

Choosing Paper for Planner Pages and Embellishments

The type of paper you choose can completely change the feeling of your finished project, so it’s worth experimenting a little to find the look you love most.

Bright white paper gives printable planner inserts and embellishments a crisp clean finish with vibrant colors, while softer papers can create a much more muted vintage-inspired feel. For printable embellishments and layered paper crafts, I usually recommend:

cardstock for sturdy embellishments
matte presentation paper for richer colors
and adhesive paper for printable stickers.

If you’d like more detailed recommendations for different types of printable projects, I also have a full guide all about choosing the right paper for printable planner pages, printable embellishments, stickers, journaling pages, and paper crafts.

And one extra little tip — even the color of the paper you print on can completely change the vibe of your project. Printing floral planner pages or printable ephemera onto soft cream or ivory paper instead of bright white paper can instantly create a warmer, softer cottagecore feel that looks especially beautiful with vintage-inspired designs.
The Cottagecore Creative Planning Collection

Everything in the Cottagecore Creative Planning Collection was designed to coordinate together so you can easily mix planner pages, printable stickers, tags, papers, journaling pages, and embellishments without needing to search for matching pieces.

The full collection includes:

12 seasonal undated printable planner kits
printable journaling pages
printable habit trackers
decorative planner inserts
printable stickers
printable papers
printable affirmation cards
printable tags
and coordinating printable ephemera.

There are also smaller coordinating products throughout the collection if you want to start with something simple first, including:

printable journaling paper packs
printable habit tracker sets
motivational message stickers
and seasonal planner kits.

I really wanted this collection to feel flexible and creative… something you could use whether you’re primarily a planner person, a paper crafter, or somewhere in between.

Easy Ways to Make Printable Embellishments Look More Professional

One of the easiest ways to elevate printable embellishments is simply adding a little dimension and layering.

Foam adhesive, inked edges, ribbon, textured paper, and layered printable ephemera can make home printed embellishments look incredibly polished and professional.

A few simple things I love doing:

layering embellishments onto patterned paper
adding foam adhesive behind stickers
printing onto cream cardstock
distressing edges lightly
and mixing printable tags with journaling cards and pockets.

I also have a full tutorial with 13 ways to make printable embellishments look more professional if you’d like even more ideas.

Cozy Creative Planning Ideas to Try

If you’re feeling inspired to experiment with creative planning, here are a few cozy little ideas to try this week:

-Print a weekly layout and decorate it with printable stickers and layered tags.

-Create a seasonal planner dashboard using printable papers and affirmation cards.

-Add journaling pages into your planner alongside your regular inserts.

-Use printable embellishments to decorate habit tracker pages and goal spreads.

-Or simply print one small freebie and spend a quiet evening experimenting with it while you watch a movie or drink a cup of tea.

Creative planning doesn’t have to feel rigid or perfectly organized to still be meaningful.
